Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is all set to resume the operation of the marine transportation line between Dubai and Sharjah from August 4.
As per the reports, the marine transport service will be undertaking eight journeys a day from Monday to Thursday, and six trips from Friday to Sunday.
This marine service, the first of its kind connecting Dubai with other emirates, will shuttle between Al Ghubaiba Marine Station in Dubai and Aquarium Marine Station in Sharjah, as per the reports.
The ferry service has been seen as a part of the emirates’ effort to offer additional mobility choices, which will help the country to ease its traffic congestions, apart from promoting the safe usage of maritime transport through the extended coastal area of the two emirates.
The journey between Al Ghubaiba Station and the Sharjah Aquarium Station will reportedly take about 35 minutes. On weekdays, there will be two morning journeys from Sharjah at 7 am and 8.30 am along with one morning journey from the other side at 7.45 am.
In the evening, there will be two journeys from Sharjah at 4.45 pm and 6.15 pm, and three journeys from Dubai at 4 pm, 5.30 pm and 7 pm.
From Friday to Sunday, there will be six journeys, three of which will start from each of the starting points in the afternoon, as per the reports.
Departure times from Sharjah will be at 2 pm, 4 pm and 6 pm respectively, whereas the journeys from the Dubai side will start at 3 pm, 5 pm and 8 pm.
Ticket fare for a single journey will be offered at 15AED for the Silver Class and 25AED for the Gold Class respectively, but will be free of charge for UAE’s People of Determination and children under five.
For buying tickets, clients can pay the fare at the respective ferry stations’ ‘Customers Services Desk’. Online payments will be accepted too.
The Dubai-Sharjah ferry service first hit the Emirates waters in July, 2019, with the aim to serve up to 1.3 million passengers on a yearly basis.
